Acceptable Use Policy

Lalink, Inc. provides many Internet services including but not limited to:

World Wide Web page hosting
Database publishing on the Web
FTP services
E-mail and Listserv discussion groups.
We have significant legal and ethical responsibility for how someone uses our computers and network.

We reserve the right to suspend or cancel a customer's access to any or all of our services and equipment without notice or refund.

E-MAIL IS NOT SECURE. E-MAIL IS NOT PRIVATE.
Electronic mail passes through multiple mail servers on the Internet. One can never be guaranteed privacy or security from E-mail servers; therefore, anyone seeking privacy should use an encryption scheme to render messages unreadable by eavesdroppers.

With regards to LAlink.com's mail servers, we only examine a users mail when required, for example when troubleshooting E-mail delivery problems or upon being presented with a legal search warrant for the information.

Disk space usage
LAlink.com's users are subject to limits on disk space, per their service agreements. Additionally, there is a maximum allowable size on E-mail attachments. We reserve the right to remove files that exceed this limit.

The customer is responsible for his or her own backups.

Unauthorized use
System abuse is strictly prohibited. LAlink, Inc. may terminate service immediately and may bill for any resulting charges if the client engages in system abuse.

Following is a list of actions considered to be system abuse. This list is non-exclusive; any action about which there is any doubt should be referred to LAlink, Inc. for evaluation. Actions which constitute system abuse include, but are not limited to:

attempting to circumvent user authentication or security of any host, network, or account on LAlink, Inc. systems or the Internet at large ("cracking" or "hacking")
attempting, in any way, to interfere with or deny service of any user or any host on the Internet
forging E-mail header information
sending of unsolicited mail messages (i.e. "spam" or "junk E-mail")
forwarding or posting "chain letters" (multiple forwarding) of any type
engaging in Email harassment, whether through language, frequency, or size of messages
using a LAlink, Inc. account to collect replies to messages sent from another provider which violate these rules or those of that provider.
Commercial advertisements
Commercial advertising is an accepted and welcome use of the Internet. However, there are appropriate and inappropriate places for Internet advertising.

Sending a message, especially an advertisement, to more than one recipient, is by itself "Spamming". Individuals who have requested to be part of a list can receive E-mail through that specific listserv. If in doubt, remember that E-mail is a person-to-person medium, not a broadcast medium.

Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (UCE) is not allowed. Incoming UCE is filtered before reaching our clients. Attempts to send outgoing UCE will result in immediate account cancellation. Using another mail server to promote a web site we host by way of UCE will result in immediate closing of the web site thus advertised.

Commercial advertisements are unwelcome in most Usenet discussion groups and on most E-mail mailing lists. Inappropriate posting may result in account cancellation. See the newsgroup or mailing list's charter for whether advertising is allowed or not. "Spamming," or sending a message to many different off-topic newsgroups, is particularly unethical and will be treated as such.

LAlink, Inc.has a zero-tolerance policy for any and all forms of Internet abuse.

Illegal material
We require that our customers never attempt to use our network for illegal purposes.

When presented with a search warrant, we are obligated to release any information named therein, and will cooperate with the authorities in any criminal investigation of inappropriate Internet usage.

Among the actions we considers illegal and therefore do not allow on our network are:

unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material.
software piracy.
trademark infringement.
deceptive trade practices.
exploitation of minors.
images or text deemed obscene or pornographic.
unauthorized or abusive use of computer resources.
Inappropriate use of web service
We handle potentially inappropriate web pages on a case-by-case basis. Examples of inappropriate information include:

down loadable virus code.
software piracy.
distribution of illegal or pornographic materials.
