Frequently Asked Questions

Can LAlink register my domain for me, and how long does it take?
Yes, we can register your domain for you, and have it active in 24-48 hours.

Can I design my own website?
Yes, we offer ftp access to all of our hosting clients, which allows full access to all of your website files. There are many site design programs available, but we recommend Macromedia's Dreamweaver because it provides the most acceptable html code that is W3c compliant, which results in your site looking the same in most web browsers.

What is FTP?
FTP is File Transfer Protocol, and it is the method by which you can transfer (upload) your website files to the LAlink server. This access is protected by username & password. You should never share your FTP access except with those people who are directly involved in your website production.

What is POP3 & SMTP?
POP3 is your incoming mail server & SMTP is your outgoing mail server. Many internet access providers do not allow you to use any other SMTP server than their own for sending mail. This is in an effort to control the sending of SPAM email, or masses of sent email. You can either connect directly to our mail server to both send and receive, or send through your provider's mail server and read from our mail server. In either case, your mail can be adressed from, and replied to an email account for your domain which we host.

Why does my mail client not allow me to login to my mail server?
Our mail server requires your user name to be your complete email address: (you@yourdomain.com)

How do I use Lalink's web based email reader to read my email from any computer?
Point the web browser to http://webmail.lalink.com (AOL users should use our IP address: http://66.34.235.247:8383) Put in your username and password and you are connected to your email account. From here you can access your email, and configure all of your personal mail preferences as well as change your password, set up auto responders, auto forwards, etc.
